WIN A PAIR OF TICKETS TO THE CHILTERN CRAFT SHOW, STONER PARK, HENLEY

Chilterns Craft Show - 28 - 31 August 2009
Stonor Park, Henley-on-Thames
Come and meet Jambo, a magnificent bronze, life-sized gorilla; discover the secrets of a perfect summer barbeque from Andy Gratton, Marks & Spencer celebrity chef; find contemporary and traditional hand made arts and crafts from up to 250 British craftsmen and learn how they were made – only at the Chilterns Craft Show August bank holiday weekend from 28 – 31 August!
Welcomed to Chilterns for the first time this year, Chilstone Garden Ornaments and sculpture artist Sebastian Wylder, will present a giant bronze modelled on the famous gorilla, Jambo, who leapt to fame in 1986 when he was protective towards five year-old Levan Merritt after he fell into the gorilla enclosure at Jersey Zoo. Children are sure to be fascinated by this story and will love having their photo taken with Jambo!
Chilstone Garden Ornaments from Langstone Green, Kent, manufacture reproductions of some of the worlds most beautiful antique ornaments found in famous gardens across the UK & Europe. Each item is meticulously handmade in reconstituted stone using a special process to ensure a finished texture virtually indistinguishable from natural stone. The creations weather rapidly, further adding to their antique appearance. Visit the stand for manufacturing demonstrations and production secrets.
Brand new for 2009, Andy Gratton will reveal the perfect barbecue in the exciting Cookery Demonstration Theatre. Watch this mouth-watering display and impress your family and friends this summer with culinary skills fit for the flame! Don’t forget to pick up Andy’s FREE Recipe Cards at the show.
Featured in the August issue of Vogue and Tatler magazine, Simone Micallef is a jewellery designer who makes pieces with a difference. Her creations are intricate and beautifully made, gaining recognition from the general public and celebrities alike as her jewellery has been worn on the red carpet by actress Sophie Okonedo at the premier of the film ‘Hotel Rwanda’!
From mirrors to lamps, David Wright can make almost anything from driftwood. At this year’s show he will have an exhibition demonstrating just how versatile items washed up on the beach can be. A former Merseyside Policeman, David has also taken a major change in career, choosing to leave behind the uniformity and structure of the police force to become more expressive and creative. His passion for beach combing and crafting started 10 years ago after he broke his leg and needed something to pass the time. He now displays and sells his handcrafted driftwood artefacts at 'The Mockbeggar Wharf' gallery at Blakemere in Cheshire.
Lissa Cook is another exhibitor who has made a dramatic career change, jumping from radio producer at BBC Five Live and Radio 1 to running a fashion business for children. Based in the Peak District, her ranges include Peak Princess, a selection of dresses in beautiful Liberty fabrics. Although Lissa previously had a very different career, sewing and designing is in her blood. Generations of skilled craftsmen and women make up her family tree – from bespoke shoemakers to top quality dress designers! Lissa’s mum had her dress designs featured in Vogue in the 1960s.
