We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2014 and will announce details of next year’s race shortly. A big thank you also to the volunteer teams from the local Scout and ATC Groups, and to everyone who came to the Great Park to cheer on the runners.”

Since the launch of the inaugural She Runs Windsor 10K and EXPOtique back in October there has been a lot going on and all is on track to make She Runs Windsor a unique event that brings women together to celebrate all things female whilst taking part in a great race and raising money for charity.

Apart from the scenic UKA certified and traffic free 10 km course around Windsor’s Great Park there is another unique aspect to She Runs Windsor: the EXPOtique, which is free for everyone to visit. Open from 4th to 6thMay 2013, the EXPOtique is an exclusive three day interactive race village with four key areas focusing on sports, fitness, health and wellbeing: INSPIRE ME, TREAT ME, FIT ME and BUY ME.

In the heart of the EXPOtique is the Health Check area where runners and all EXPOtique visitors will have access to a free segmental body composition analysis by fitnessASSIST, which is the ultimate tool providing in-depth information for truly personalised consultations in less than 30 seconds. Halo Headband UK has been announced as one of the exhibitors in the BUY ME area and they will be demonstrating their range of products which resolve the common problem of irritation due to sweat and suncream in runners’ eyes.

With each of the four areas hosting a bar the organisers have confirmed that the Sports Nutrition Bar in the BUY ME area will be hosted by CLIF Bar and LUNA Bar. CLIF Bar will be offering sampling of their wholesome and nutritious foods and drinks for people on-the-go as well as advising on sports nutrition and healthy snacks whilst interacting with runners and anyone who aspires to lead an active, healthy life.

The Tea Bar in the INSPIRE ME section of the EXPOtique will be taken over by Teapigs to create the Matcha Green T-Bar. Known as a bit of a superhero amongst teas, Matcha is 100% natural, organic green tea leaves with a huge antioxidant content which have been carefully ground to form a fine powder. Runners and visitors will be given the opportunity to taste this super-powered special green tea from Japan as well as purchase Matcha tea at a special price.

Details about the Vegetable and Smoothie Bar and the much anticipated Champagne and Cupcake Bar will be announced shortly, along with further EXPOtique exhibitors and sponsors.

Registration to the She Runs Windsor 10K is open now and will remain open until the maximum capacity of 8,000 runners has been reached. The race, which is open to women of all levels and abilities, takes place in Windsor’s Great Park on bank holiday Monday 6th May with a start time of 10.30 am.

Registration open for Oxford Half Marathon 2013

The organisers of the Oxford Half Marathon have announced that registration is opening today (20 December 2012) for the 2013 race, which takes place on Sunday 13 October 2013.

The new route introduced for 2012 received some great feedback from the runners and will remain the same for 2013, starting near the Kassam Stadium and finishing inside the stadium in front of roaring supporting crowds. Some of the route’s highlights include running through the impressive MINI Plant Oxford, past the Iffley Road Track where Sir Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile on 6 May 1954 and the city’s iconic dreaming spires and world famous university college grounds. After crossing Folly Bridge the runners will head south onto the scenic Thames Path before joining Oxford Road and crossing the finish line in the Kassam Stadium.

MINI Plant Oxford has been confirmed as the Headline Sponsor for the 3rd year, and with the route going through the iconic MINI Plant.

Erich Thanner from MINI Plant Oxford commented: “We are delighted to be supporting this event for the third year running. It is good to see that in such a short time it has become so popular with runners and is already a fixture in the Oxford calendar. The plant is proud to play its part in the half marathon by forming part of the route.”

Registration for the Oxford Half Marathon 2013 is now open, with entry fees remaining the same at £29 for affiliated runners and £31 non-affiliated runners, including a medal, goodie bag and a Brooks technical t-shirt for all finishers. A limited number of 1,500 early bird places are available, offering runners a 10% discount off the entry fee and priority parking on race day.

The UKA licensed route can accommodate up to 6,000 runners, and entries will close as soon as the race limit is reached.

Race Director Andy Heyes commented: “We are very excited to launch the Oxford Half Marathon 2013 and to open registration. The 2012 race was hailed a great success and we have taken all feedback on board. Improvements to some areas including baggage storage and parking will be made for 2013, with new systems already put in place. I am pleased to confirm that Sir Roger Bannister has pledged his support for the Oxford Half Marathon 2013 too.”

The Corporate Challenge will take place again and run alongside the Oxford Half Marathon, with further details revealed and registration for corporate teams opening in March.

Following the success of the en route music and entertainment in the 2012 race the organisers will also invite local bands again to play on race day and to contribute to the inspiring race day atmosphere, the application process for which will be unveiled shortly.

Go to www.oxfordhalfmarathon.com for further details about the race and to secure your place now. You can also like the Facebook page www.facebook.com/OxfordHalfMarathon and follow @oxfordhalf on Twitter to stay up to date with all the latest happenings and announcements.
