Garmin has been announced as the official training partner for the 2nd Oxford Half Marathon on 14October 2012, providing 12 weeks training plans and prizes for the race.
With just over 13 weeks to go until race day, now is the perfect time to sign up to the Oxford Half Marathon and to set yourself a personal challenge, no matter what your current fitness level is. The 12 weeks training plans, aimed at beginners, intermediate and advanced runners, are provided by Garmin and powered by Full Potential who believe that, regardless of age, fitness and experience, everyone can become a better runner with the right training, motivation and commitment.
Andy Silver, European Fitness Product Manager at Garmin commented: ‘We’re proud to be involved in the Oxford Half Marathon and have worked with our training partner Full Potential to aid the runners with a training plan to suit all abilities. The training plans can be printed or sent directly to a compatible Garmin Forerunner for runners to follow and be guided through their race preparation.’

A new UKA licensed route which can accommodate up to 6,000 runners has been approved for 2012, and running legend Sir Roger Bannister will be starting the race. The route goes past the famous Iffley Road Track where Sir Roger Bannister ran a mile in under four minutes for the first time ever on 6 May 1954 and runners will also pass the blue plaque which records the event on their way towards the city centre. Further route highlights include running through the impressive MINI Plant Oxford as well as taking in Oxford’s world famous dreaming spires and university college grounds, Folly Bridge, the scenic Thames Path and the finish in the Kassam Stadium.
Entry is £29 for affiliated runners and £31 for non-affiliated runners, with all finishers receiving a medal, a goodie bag and a Brooks technical t-shirt. Go to www.oxfordhalfmarathon.com for further details and to secure your place now.
