New Tenants at The Half Moon in Cuxham

The Half Moon pub in Cuxham has and re-opened after refurbishment on the 29th of April.
The previous patrons prided themselves on good quality fare, most of it home grown from the enormous allotment and home made on the premises – and in that respect, the new tenants will not differ.  However, the style of food on the menu will.
One half of the new partnership taking over is French – Philippe Rethore – and he was brought up on very traditional French food which will now be introduced at The Half Moon; foie gras with seasonal chutneys, saucissons and black puddings, cassoulets, smoked duck breast salads, gratins, terrines and tartins will all be on offer. Not to mention Winter foods – the fondues, raclettes and tartiflettes  so often enjoyed by visitors to the south west regions of France during skiing holidays.
The wine list is chosen specifically to complement each dish being served on the day and – should anybody need a little bit of help, our front of house staff, led by the English side of the partnership, Debbie Porteous, are all trained to know what would be the most delicious food and wine combinations.
But let’s not forget that the English cannot be outdone in many things – two of which are also on offer at The Half Moon;  good English beer (supplied by Brakspear), lagers and cider, and the kind of pub ambience that is so supremely unique to our shores.
So come and visit the 17th century, thatch roofed  inn, nestling in the picturesque  hamlet not five minutes drive from Watlington, and enjoy a small taste of France – but set very much in a quintessential English atmosphere.
